Big awards, big talents, big statements. Read about the outstanding careers being celebrated with the Film Society's annual directing, acting and screenwriting awards, the Mel Novikoff and Persistence of Vision Awards and the Golden Gate Awards.

Film Society Awards Night
This star-studded occasion honors this year's directing, acting and screenwriting award recipients with a glamorous black-tie evening featuring onstage celebrity appearances and gourmet dining.

Midnight Awards
The Midnight Awards takes the form of a late night talk show. Zoe Saldana is the first recipient to be announced. Her male corecipient will be announced soon.

Live & Onstage
Musicians and artists add an extra dimension to unique film screenings, and a leading cultural figure addresses the State of Cinema in the Film Society's annual address.

Master Classes
An extension of the Film Society's year-round Film Studies program, these new master classes are a unique opportunity for audience members to engage with special Festival guests and get an insider's guide to intriguing cinema subjects.

 

Salons
This new discussion series is designed to deepen and enhance the Festival experience. Bay Area film scholars lead in-depth audience conversations about major film genres and prominent Festival themes.

Schools at the Festival 20th Anniversary
To commemorate the 20-year anniversary of Schools at the Festival, SFIFF54 features a series of special public programs including a family matinee, an animation workshop for kids and a teacher appreciation night.

Schools at the Festival Screenings
More than 3,000 elementary, middle and high school students and their teacher attend weekday Festival screenings and dozens of filmmakers visit Bay Area classrooms.

SFIFF College Days
This three-day film series, offered exclusively to Bay Area college and university students, consists of five Festival films and includes post-screening Q&A with visiting filmmakers and a guest lecturer.
